Opinion essay

This is my opinion writing and I wrote about my grandmother because she is important to me. And you would know why if you read this writing.

My Grandmother Is Important to Me
Is your grandmother important to you in a lot of ways? Well, my grandmother is one of the most important people in the world to me for lots of reasons. She is the one who has fun with me, solves and helps me with problems, and the one who makes me feel comfortable and safe in the family.
To begin with we have fun together everywhere. One of the fun things we do is have my favourite food together. (“Dokbugee,” which is as close as I can spell it with English letters.) I wait for my grandmother when she makes it and we eat it together. “Make it spicy”, I would always say. Then my grandmother says “it’s already spicy”. It tastes delicious when she makes it for me. Also we read together. Sometimes we read with different books and sometimes my grandmother reads to me when I ask her to. The last and the most fun thing we do together is go to the market. When I visit in Seoul, she never goes without me. If I can’t go because of homework, she either goes the next day or after I finish my homework. When we arrive at the market, we look for things we need. My grandmother always lists the things we need to get. When we look around I read the things we need aloud and my grandmother pushes the cart along and puts things in it. We always get more than we need. She also asks if I want anything to eat and gets it for me.
Another reason that I realize my grandmother is so important to me is that she helps me with problems and talks to me about everything. At night we talk about the day I had in school and she never looks like she is bored. She always looks like she is listening to me and I feel really good. I know that because she always nods if I say something. She also talks about the day that she has had. Sometimes we tuck in bed and talk about other things that are happening. It happened a few times but we even discuss things until it is midnight and then start realising that it is too late. We talk about non- important things as well. Another way she helps me with problems is she tells me what I should have done, what I should do, and some other important advice. I listen to those pieces of advise because they always help. When I have problems she talks to me in the car. I love talking to my grandmother in the car because it’s a long way from school to my house and we have a lot of time to talk. I think that my grandmother is the best person to tell my worries and my problems to.
The last and perhaps the most important reason is that my grandmother makes me feel comfortable and safe all the time. One of the things that feels comfortable and safe is when I sleep with my grandmother. When I sleep with my grandmother I sleep well, without any bad dreams and nightmares. I have good dreams or none at all. I feel really sleepy when I sleep with my grandmother. That make me sleep early and be energetic on the next day. Another example is that one day me and my grandmother decided to go for a walk near the rivers. I felt comfortable and safe being with my grandmother when she helped me go up big, huge steps and when I jumped on rocks. And one time, I was on my way to visit my grandmother. I was on a bus that goes to my grandmother’s house. I felt really excited to meet her. It was a really long ride on the bus from the airport to Seoul. I took a nap in the bus and when I woke up I saw my grandmother from from a really far distance. She didn’t come to the airport but she was waiting for the bus I was in. I felt happy to see her after such a long time, and comfortable with the idea that I was going to be staying with her for a few months.
My grandmother is the person in the family that cares or me and the family. And I understood more of it while writing this. I hope you have someone that you really love, that cares for you, and I hope you realise it soon enough.

Personal narrative from the beginning of the year

What?Dedicated to my sister for revenge

By : Yumin Kim

One hot evening, as the sun s~l~o~w~l~y set behind the buildings outside I was having dinner with my sister. It was quiet, just the sound of the spoon hitting the plate. I kept an eye on her, she was never so quiet. Suddenly she was smiling at me. The smile had a hint of trouble “don’t do that face it is freaky and why are you smiling?”I asked. I saw myself reflect in her eye. I was trying not to get interested. It was hard to ignore. “What?”,I said finally. “You look like a Anteater!!!!!! so funny”, Hyeamin laughed. “What is an Anteater?”,I asked. “Go search”, Hyeamin said, then she left the dinner table. I took a peak at her plate “that’s fast”, I thought. I was alone at the dinner table. I was always last at eating. But I was full. I walked to the computer with my big fat belly. I was scrolling Down the page ……………. An Anteater had a long nose , short legs, small eyes and a very l-o-n-g tongue and it ate ants!!! Lava bubbled in my head. I stomped my feet , kicked the door open and spit fire at her . “You look like an Anteater, meany” I shouted. Hyeamin covered her ears “I DON’T”

“I-“………………..”Get out” Hyeamin shouted I stuck my tongue and slammed the door at her face. ” Anteaters are ugly” I thought. I walked slowly to my bedroom with my heavy body and closed my eyes ………..

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….zzzzzz….zzzzzz

I knew that in the morning everything will be forgotten.

And it was.

India Week

We had a really fun in India week because we got to do all different kinds of activities and it was different than 3rd grade. On the second day of India week which was Monday we saw a balloon show and it was really fun and funny. On Friday we got to see people that came to our school to show how they made things. Then next Thursday the crafts changed to new craft demos. All of them changes. It was really fun to see the craft demos twice. On Tuesday we got to get mehendi and we got to draw or pick our designs some hands had spaces between designs and some hands were full of designs. It was really cool that the people who were doing it made it so exact and pretty. That day we also did yoga it made us really calm and energised. We got oranges after yoga and we did mindful eating kind of thing. The other exciting thing we did are fashion show, movie, screen printing, Rajasthani lunch (delicious), turban tying, puppet show, and my favourite activity is the dye. The dye was really fun and cool because I love art or craft and we made different designs with cloth and thread and beads except we did not put beads on the cloth we used it to get the Colour on the cloth. India week was really fun and I would love to have everyday as India week.

Indian dance unit in Indian studies

A Kathak dancer named ms. Priti came our school to teach us how and the different facts about kathak dancing. She also taught us about different kinds of Indian dances. The facts about kathak dancing is that it is a classical dance. We learned the foot steps to the basics but it was hard to do it without getting confused. She showed us that kathak dances can tell stories. She told us that to learn kathak dance you need to practice and learn for a lot of years. Also a tabla player named mr. Rajiv came from jharand came to our school and played the tabla to match the kathak dance that ms. Priti did.
We learned three other dances called Bollywood dancing and ghoomar and Bhangra . Ghoomar was a dance from Rajasthan and Bhangra was from Punjab. We also learned that ghoomar was a smooth and soft dance and Bhangra was a energetic and a fun dance. These two dances are called folk dances. The amazing fact that I learned is that there are at least 645 tribes in India that does these dances. Learning these fun dances in Indian studies was fun and exciting. I hope we have a similar unit like this one!!!!

Celebrating My Writing

Recently in writing , I worked on writing a personal narrative. I am taking the time to share what I learned and how I am going to grow as a writer.
I have enough ideas for some story but it took kind of a long time for thinking ideas.
I used spider web for planing it was actually my favorite part of writing a story because I can thing of all the fun and exiting things that happened that day and at that moment I thought I wrote a big story I never thought of that so I just took of the part that I didn’t really need.
The other thing I enjoyed is editing because I can read my story and there might be things to change and there is another one which is drawing the pictures because I love drawing.
I think I have done quite good job.
